Superman hates Republicans didn't die.
Democrastinators, waiting for "someone else" to fix the political system in this country. Already the leadership of my party is saying "Well, maybe now the Republicans will want to get something done, maybe they will be willing to work with us". That's freaking sad. When the Democrats won in 2008 Republicans came out of the blocks with their hair on fire, openly declaring their willingness to destroy the country in order to gain control. And Democrats said "We won, they have to work with us". How'd that work out Dems? In 2012 it happened again, and again the left played Charlie Brown to the rights Lucy. Repeatedly they sweet talked their positions, the Dems believed them, in spite of history, and they swiped the ball away at the last minute. So now, here we are again saying "Gosh, they'll do what's best for the country because they say they will". No, they won't. To think differently shows a real problem with accepting reality. Already there are Republicans declaring 100 year rule by the right. Mitch McConnell has already threatened President Obama with impeachment if he attempts to do anything regarding immigration unilaterally. Already they have come out crowing that they will repeal the ACA, putting 10 million people back in to the position where they can't get health insurance and risk loosing everything if they get sick or injured. Threats of killing the minimum wage, ending constitutionally legal abortion rights, ignoring the majority of Americans that are in favor of raising the minimum wage, marriage equality, fair pay for women, lower interest rates for college students, are concerned about global climate change, and military expansion into the Middle East to push their idea of "Democracy" through invasion rather than negotiation. We've had 56 weeks of positive private sector job growth, a reduction in deficit spending from almost 10% of GDP to less than 3%, with stocks at record highs, with gasoline at less than $3.00 a gallon, with health care cost increases at the lowest rate since Hoover, unemployment down to less than 6% and the newly crowned Republican majority want to "TURN THIS COUNTRY AROUND". To where? At what cost? At who's expense? If we sit back and let them steamroll us all it will cost YOU, because you are not part of the Republican hierarchy, you are not part of the 10% of the top 1% and as such they will consider us all collateral damage, an acceptable number of casualties in their quest to gain and hold power, as the foundation of that power, us, slowly fall in line. If we don't work to change this, from our representatives to our friends to our selves, our only salvation will come when the old rich white men in power die. Why wait? Why not go down with a fight instead of a shrug and "It can't be fixed"? It can't be fixed if there is no attempt to fix it.
